Young Girl Holding ‘I Beat Cancer’ Sign Shoved Down Stairs by Drunk NFL Fans

Attending a football game is an experience everyone should try at least once. Even if you’re not a die-hard NFL fan, the electrifying atmosphere in the stands is something truly unique and hard to ignore.

However, the excitement can sometimes get the better of people. At times, fans become overly enthusiastic, and when alcohol is involved, their behavior can cross the line, creating a nuisance for others around them.

No one understands the highs and lows of a football game better than Mia DeCamilla. The young girl, a survivor of embryonal sarcoma—a rare form of cancer—was attending her first NFL game with her parents to celebrate her victory over the disease. Excitedly holding a sign that read, “I BEAT CANCER! MY FIRST NFL GAME!” she joined the crowd to watch the Bills face off against the San Francisco 49ers.

Tragically, the joyous occasion took a dark turn when a group of intoxicated Bills fans accidentally pushed Mia down the stairs. Her mother, Mikey, took to Facebook to share the upsetting incident, writing, “Sadly, we had to leave earlier than planned. Yes, the Niners were losing, but worse than that, we had to deal with the police after a drunk Bills fan decided it was acceptable to push past my husband and me, sending our eight-year-old daughter, Warrior Mia DeCamilla, down the stairs in section 312.”

She continued, “If you’re this kind of Bills Mafia fan, please unfollow our family now. Also, I hope the person who thought it was okay to shove a child holding a cancer-free sign in the cold feels it was worth your win.”

Mikey’s post quickly went viral, capturing widespread attention due to the heartbreaking nature of the incident. In the aftermath, Mia’s previous GoFundMe campaign—originally launched in 2022 to help with medical expenses during her cancer battle—resurfaced and gained renewed support. Donations soared, with the campaign raising over $38,000.

The post shares Mia’s courageous journey: “In mid-January 2022, Mia was diagnosed with childhood undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver. She underwent four months of pre-surgery chemotherapy and, on May 23rd, 2022, endured a 12-hour surgery to resect her liver. Following surgery, Mia completed eight weeks of chemotherapy, reaching remission on July 25th.

“To help ease the family’s financial burden and make daily life a bit more manageable—covering hospital meals, fuel, bills, and the mortgage—any donations would be deeply appreciated.

“We all love you, Warrior Mia DeCamilla. 💪🏼🥲 Keep shining bright, baby one. #ChildhoodCancerAwareness”

Mia’s story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Our thoughts are with her and her family as they navigate life after these challenging times. May their strength continue to guide them forward.
