Jay Leno and his wife, Mavis, stepped out for a date night together amid her dementia diagnosis.
The couple attended the premiere of Unfrosted in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening. This comes just after Jay was granted conservatorship of their joint estate, which he filed for in January.
According to Entertainment Tonight, “At the time, he asked a Los Angeles judge to grant him his bid so that he could ‘structure her living trust and other estate plans’ in the event that he should die before her.”
Court documents obtained by ET stated: “Mavis has been progressively losing capacity and orientation to space and time for several years … Jay is fully capable of continuing support for Mavis’ physical and financial needs, as he has throughout their marriage.”
Additionally, one filing said that Mavis’s “current condition renders her incapable of executing the estate plan.”

The interviewer then mentioned that it was great to see both Jay and Mavis out together.
“Thought I’d come to something fun for a change,” Jay said jokingly. “Everything is so controversial. Just to come to a funny, silly movie — it’s great. I think people will have a great time.”
ET’s Kevin Frazier mentioned how fans love that Jay’s “been there for Mavis.” And he said it’s easy to stand by his wife because they have a solid marriage. Jay mentioned that the key to their happiness is being best friends.
“We have a great time,” Jay responded quickly. “[Maried] 44 years, so we’re doing good.”
Kevin then asked Jay how he celebrated his recent 72nd birthday.
“I’m not a big birthday guy,” Jay said.
Mavis chimed in with a “Neither of us [are]!”
“My life is a party anyway,” Jay added. “Every day is a good day.”
