Benji Greogry’s cause of death revealed three months after late actor’s sudden death

Three months after Benji Gregory, the child star of the 1980s sitcom ALF, died, his cause of death has been revealed.

The 46-year-old died from heat exposure in the setting of hepatic cirrhosis. His death was ruled accidental by the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner.

TMZ first broke the news of the late actor’s death in June.

Gregory’s sister, Rebecca, told the media outlet that her brother and his service dog Hans were found dead in his car at a Chase Bank in Peoria, AZ on June 13. It’s suspected he visited the bank on June 12 to deposit residual checks, fell asleep in his car, and ultimately died in his car due to Arizona’s intense heat.

His sister confirmed Gregory lived with depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder, though according to the medical examiner none played a part in his death.

Gregory played the middle son Brian Tanner on ALF, which ran from 1986-1990, for more than 100 episodes. Following his stint in television, Gregory served in the United States Navy.

Rest in peace, Benji. We’ll always miss you.
