Amid a challenging battle with cancer, actress Shannen Doherty has shared a hopeful update on her health journey. The actress spoke about her experience on her most recent podcast.
Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” has been undergoing a new cancer infusion treatment. After an uncertain start, the 52-year-old has revealed a significant breakthrough.
“After the sixth and seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier,” Doherty said. “Do I call that a miracle? For me, that happens to be a miracle right now.” The actress attributes this progress to both the medication and perhaps divine intervention, saying, “And that it’s actually breaking that blood-brain barrier is a miracle of that drug and a miracle of, you know, maybe God intervening and being like ‘I’m going to give her a break.'”
As she confronts her health challenges, Doherty has also opened up about her wishes for the future, expressing her desire for her funeral to be a celebration of life, akin to “a love fest,” rather than a sad occasion. She envisions an event where people aren’t mourning but are thankful and celebrating.
In terms of her final resting place, Doherty has contemplated creative and personal ways to handle her ashes, yet remains undecided. Reflecting on personal relationships, Doherty remains optimistic about love and the future.
In a candid interview in November last year, Doherty shared her readiness to find love again and her belief that she will not be single forever. Having recently separated from her third husband, Kurt Iswarienko, she has spent time reconciling with her past and nurturing self-love. With newfound closure and openness, Doherty has welcomed a new partner into her life.
The actress will delve deeper into her experiences with her health, relationships, and career in her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” which premiered on December 6, 2023.
