Jack Osbourne Is Raising His Kids The Way His Parents Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Brought Him Up

For the past decade and a half, Jack Osbourne has proven he is more than just his family name. While he may have been referred to as a spoiled rock kid at some point in his life, Jack has definitely transformed into a mature, responsible and loving family man throughout the years.

Born to parents Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne, Jack is best known for his stint on the reality series “The Osbournes” where he appeared together with his parents and sister Kelly from 2002 to 2005. He has since established an incredible career as a fitness and travel host.

Some of his most popular shows include “Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie” and the BBC’s “Saving Planet Earth.” He and his father Ozzy also worked together as father and son who traveled around the world in the History Channel reality series “Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour.”

In 2012, Jack went through a roller coaster ride as he faced ups and downs in his personal life. In what was probably the biggest ordeal of his life, Jack got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He has since been open about his journey and even launched a website called You Don’t Know Jack About MS where he opened up about his personal struggles and successes with the disease.

But a life-changing moment happened that same year when his then-girlfriend Lisa Stelly gave birth to their first child.

“My daughter was born three weeks after I got diagnosed with (Multiple Sclerosis),” he told PEOPLE in an interview. “So there’s this weird association with my life before (being a) parent and then my life before MS,” he added.

Jack and Lisa got married in Hawaii in October 2012, just months after they welcomed their first child. In 2013, the couple announced that they were expecting their second child. But just less than a month after sharing the exciting announcement, his life Lisa delivered a piece of heartbreaking news as she revealed that she had a miscarriage.

In an interview with PEOPLE in 2016, Jack opened up about his life as a parent.

“There’s an ignorant freedom without being a parent,” Jack said. “You don’t realize how you can do things at ease, and you can just jump on a plane and you can just get in your car and go,” he added.

In the same interview, Jack shared what his realizations were when he became a parent to his first two kids, saying he “wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

“There’s certain things that you don’t (understand how easy they are) until (they’re gone),” he said.

In February 2018, they welcomed their third child. Three months later, they announced that they were going their separate ways, and in March 2019, they finalized their divorce. The former couple shares three children together: Minnie Theodora, 4, Andy Rose, 7, and Pearl Clementine, 10.

Jack then got engaged to fashion designer Aree Gearhart in December 2021. In July 2022, they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Maple Artemis.

Weeks after his daughter was born, Jack shared a photo of her on social media wearing a crocheted bear-themed one-piece. He occasionaly shares photos of his bonding moments with Maple from time to time, giving people a glimpse of how hands-on he is as a dad.

However, Jack isn’t only great at looking after his own children. He has also been looking after his sister Kelly while she goes through her pregnancy journey, since her fiancé and father of her child, DJ Sid Wilson, has been busy on tour.

“I check in on baby Maple and they check in on me to see where I am — and they were pregnant the same time, she just came a few months earlier, so it’s kind of like he’s been my crash test dummy,” Kelly shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

While some might see him as a strict parent, Jack said he is far from it.

“I think I’m a pretty realistic parent,” he told PEOPLE. “I like to try and ride the line of being fun, but yet mean (when) I say, ‘This is how it’s gonna be,’” he said.

But the way Jack raises his children says a lot about how his parents brought him up. He said he always keeps the line of communication between him and his children open.

“Both my parents were really big about the way they communicated to us. My mom would always talk to us like we’re humans — same with my dad,” he said.

“It was never that, like, ‘We’re your parents and we’re just this dominant figure in your life.’ It (was) always a conversation, which I think is really important to be able to have — communicating with a kid on their level versus trying to talk down to a kid,” he added.
