Seren Lewis from Cardiff, Wales, experienced deep and euphoric feelings of success after checking her final bar results to become a barrister. While Lewis was the recipient of this awe-inspiring feat, her grandparents were the heroes that gave up something substantial. This in no way undermines the sleepless nights and tons of hard work Williams put into studying because it was undoubtedly a concerted effort on both sides.
Prior to sharing her big news with her fellow internet users, she carried them along through the process. Lewis, who creates content on TikTok, shared previous clips, showing her studying for her bar exams, as well as sharing bits and pieces of the exam days. In one video, captioned, “Bar School Exams – Day 1,” Lewis made it known that it was “hell Week,” explaining further that it was otherwise known as the Bar Standards Board Exam Week.
The young adult revealed details of her exam and how much she put into studying for it. The following clips carried more details on the ultimate exam before the clip that revealed her verdict.
Lewis shared her law bar results with over 10,000 followers and million other viewers in June 2023. The youngster looked unsettled in the clip as she sat with her grandparents. Lewis stayed in between them, unable to control her emotions. While her grandpa sat on the left and gently rocked her, the grandmother sat on the right.
The visibly anxious aspiring barrister could not help but fidget as she hesitated to click on her result page. “I’m gonna cry,” she said in a small voice as her grandmother proceeded to check the result. On the count of four, Lewis’ grandma clicked on the page. After a dramatic pause from the trio, the room erupted in screams of joy. Overcome with emotions, she put her face in her palms while her grandpa continued holding and congratulating her.
Lewis’s success story garnered over one million likes as the clip was shared over 18,000 times. The family’s happiness was reflected in the comment section as many TikTokers shared congratulatory messages. Many revealed they could not help the surge of emotions. One follower stated, “I’m literally crying for you.”
A fellow law student added, “This made me cry. I’m a first-year law student; this is a dream. Well done.” Another well-wisher chipped in,” Congratulations! The world is yours for the taking.” Lewis’ TikTok video came with a moving caption where she acknowledged her grandparents’ rare sacrifice. She penned:
“Passing the Bar and qualifying as a Barrister is my biggest accomplishment to date. However it would have never happened without my Grandparents who I can only be forever grateful for.”
Lewis opened up on how her grandparents took her in when she was only two and nurtured her dreams into maturity. She described this as “the most selfless act anyone could have done for me.”
The happy barrister-to-be added that bar school was quite expensive, but her grandparents stood by her and paid for it all, even to the point of re-mortgaging their home to see her dreams come true. Toward the end, Lewis stated that her big win was a “shared achievement.”
