Breaking Gender Norms Through Fashion
Mark Bryan, a 61-year-old father of three, has been redefining traditional gender norms by wearing skirts and heels to work for the past four years. As a robotics engineering manager based in Germany, Mark has gained a significant social media following of over 73,000 people, inspiring many with his bold fashion choices. His message is clear: straight, cisgender men can embrace “masculinity” while confidently wearing clothing traditionally associated with femininity.
Fashion Meets Comfort
On Instagram, Mark describes himself as “a straight, happily married guy who loves Porsches, beautiful women, and incorporating high heels and skirts into my daily wardrobe.” For him, his style is not about making a statement about sexuality but rather embracing comfort, individuality, and confidence in his fashion choices.
Embracing Style While Staying True to Family
Mark shared with Metro.co.uk that his fashion choices are fueled by a mix of style and comfort. “I want to stand out and be different, but I’m still the same manly husband and father,” he said. In fact, his daughter occasionally borrows his shoes, further proving that his wardrobe choices are embraced at home. His colleagues have also been supportive, as they were already familiar with him wearing heels paired with pants before he began incorporating skirts into his outfits.
Confidence During Work-from-Home
Even during the pandemic, when working remotely, Mark didn’t abandon his signature style. He continued to confidently wear his heels and coordinated outfits, proving that his commitment to breaking norms extends beyond the workplace.
